The territory of the 9th Sephiroth-Yesod-Foundation, is the Astral World of Dreams floating in the fiery liquid light before formation. The territory given to the Moon and its illusions of reflection. This is the first sphere of the Mind that separates from the purely materialized world of Malkuth, the 10th numbered sphere on the Tree of Life. According to voodooist, Yesod is the home of the Masa, those loa who are as strong and durable as the astral light and as useful and necessary to voodoo magics as those forms the astral light generates. Remembering that All is Mind, the Astral part of Mind, is a place of dream, before the dreams become solid from intense concentration, as our physical world is. It is hard to believe that we exist within The Mind; However,we are self-reflections of the One Self. whose Whole Mind is the substance the Dream of the Universe floats in.. a vast Water of Space. All is a fractal, a copy of a copy, in continuous flow. In the Space all around us , floats the forms of Time and/or measurement. The Mind is that invisible infinite Space that Time floats in. From Kether-1 to Malkuth-10, I AM. Hence, our Souls/Psyche is a copy of the One Mind and builds its Self-Images in the material of Liquid Light, before they are "born" into this world.
The Masa La Flambeau are the carriers of the molten liquids of the La Flambeau loa. Here, the Magic Mirror begins as molten glass., that the Masa move, shape, and still this fiery liquid. Presiding over all creation, these loa also give spiritual blessing to all mirrors. It is understood that through their art, only the Masa are able to repair a mirror cracked during an expedition.
Depicted on the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot- 9 of Petro, we seen 2 male masa, carrying pots of flaming liquid from one furnace to another. The furnaces are reminiscent of the left and right pillar of the Qabalistic Tree of Life. The 2 pillars represent the extremes of spiritual growth, one of severity and the other of mercy. Keeping the dynamic balance of the 2 pillars, is the job of these Loa. Here are seen the virtues of this card;
- Fiery distillation.
- A burning out of impurities.
- The Maintenance of of balance through fiery transport.
When thrown in divination, the 9 of Petro implies:
- Strong emotion bubbles under the surface.
- Hidden passions.
- Rapid, unpredictable change.
- Strength through balance.
The Thoth Tarot 9 of Wands is called, STRENGTH.
The 9 of Wands represents Yesod in Aziluth; it is The Lord of Great Strength. Its Planet is the Moon and the sign is Sagittarius.
Angels of the Decan are: Yirthiel, and Sahiah.
The 9 of Wands-Strength, is the influence of Yesod in the World of pure spirit- Atziluth. The Lunar powers do acquire great strength in Sagittarius, but being the Moon, there are two sides to this "coin". Meaning, that successes are usually acquired by strife, apprehension and moments of insecurity.
The 9 of Wands also emphasizes the influencing strength of Woman/ Moon in this card. The Thoth Wand is a stylized Sun-phallus; the Womb wields the phallus. This is not a new concept as the ancient Egyptians believed that the Moon pulled the Sun across the sky.
The good health and strength of this card is certain, but it harbors doubt about the later course it may take. It is best to know the axiom: "Change is Stability", when viewing this card.
The 9's may be considered the best that can be obtained from the type of forces involved, when regarded from a practical- material standpoint.
The Thoth 9 of Wands, shows 8 background Wands as Arrows (Sagittarius influence) and one Master Arrow in the forefront, sporting a Sun at one end as a driving force, and a Moon at the other end as its point. This implies that Sagittarius joins the Sun and the Moon, and that the Greatest Strength is the Balance of this coupling flow. The flow of Electric Male expression and Magnetic Female receptivity. Together, all that is Living Form, is from this flow and reception.
When we, as Magic Souls, hermetically marry both the Male will to Force and the Female will to form within, it is called an "Oneness" or "Holy Spirit" and it reveals all the 4 Worlds in a communion of the Sun (Father) and the Moon (Mother) that never ceases. The tenfold flames of the card, imply that the Energy of the Solar Logos, is directed downward into the "reflection of being". The Whole Universe is the Self Reflection of the Supernal Trinity, Kether-Chokmah-Binah, and/or Energy-Light-Form. In the Universal Collective Unconscious, thought is the "first matter" and therefore, the first step towards formation. Yet Self is all there is, as the I AM... is the Divine Creative. Therefore, the Universal Self, reflects upon itself, to create all that is of the One Energy, upon which the Universe Reflects. Self is all that is , all that we'll ever see, and all that we ever will know. Self and the fractal of selves that collect to make the Whole. I Am Self Awareness, and I am dressed "to the nines".
When the 9 of Wands-Strength is thrown during a reading, it implies:
- Internal strength, recovery from illness, potency and spiritual force.
- Yet, it is Moon in Yesod, so one may have to defend their ideas, but because of Sagittarius, will not lack the strength to do so.
- The 9 of Wands also implies that energy is brought back into balance, thus health restored.
- Creatively, this card implies a peek experience in ability were one sees clearly and accurately, leading to solid creations that will have the strength to endure over time.
- Here the Energy of the Spirit is rapid, interchanging both electric and magnetic energy, taking whatever action is necessary to restore balance and thus enable the Mind. (Moon is ruler of the Subconscious).
If ill defined by surrounding cards:
- Psychological injuries.
