new Orleans voodoo tarot- 9 of Congo-water-madam la lune

The New Orleans Voodoo Tarot- 9 of Congo-Water- Madame La Lune, depicts the loa that is the glamorous lady of the Moon. Being luminous she walks in the waters of astral light and she influences the tides and dreams. Madam La Lune (also spelled:Lalinn) shares transportation duties with the Masa's by transporting (reflecting) the light of the Sun. She can grant use of the magic mirror and is often called the Mirror of the young moon who invites travel to soft places of the heart.

Depicted on the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot Card, La Lune is swathed in glamour. Soft light sways upon her soft skin, in sync with rhythms of the drums, whose mouth give forth honied sounds. Therefore, the powerful attributes of this card are those of enchantment.

The midcourse of the Moon, grows large or small, moving toward the birth of the full Moon, or slowly gliding into the night as the elder as the Black cloaked Moon. This elder moon, shows Madam La Lune in her wisest and most secretive form ,the Crone and/or the Mother of Mysteries. One could say, that La Lune in her dark form, is the Soul's dark mirror and/or the Qabalistic Abyss. The legend states that she passes from the world of the visible, to the invisible world to be refreshed and rebuilt by the hands of those who once constructed the pyramids and temples of ancient earth. Which could be the Thelemic "City of the Pyramids". Being Western Qabalistic, one doesn't need to be part of the Thelema religion, that was invented by A. Crowley. However, interestingly, the comparison is there.

City of the Pyramids - Encyclopedia Thelemica

https://www.lashtal.com/wiki/City_of_the_Pyramids

The City of the Pyramids is the mystical home to those adepts that have crossed the great Abyss (see the Tree of Life), having spilled all their blood in the Graal of Babalon. They have destroyed their earthly ego-identities, becoming nothing more than piles of dust (i.e. the remaining aspects of their True Selves without the self-sense of "I"), and become impregnated as a Babe within Babalon.

On the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot Card, 9 of Congo, a woman is shown using her finger to create a moon, reflected by water, into phases. The water becoming the dark mirror upon which she can work. Being linked with Moon and its phases, this card's primary attribute is stability through change.

When thrown in divination, this 9 of Congo card implies:

  • Cyclic change.
  • A return to the beginnings after a cycle is complete.
  • Orderly change.
  • Enchantment.
  • Happiness.

The 9's all refer to Yesod, the 9th Sephiroth that is the Foundation of all manifested forms and forces on Malkuth-the physical and material plane.

The 9's, generally show very great fundamental force because they rest on the Firm Foundational Base of Yesod representing  pure-conscious- emotional power, so that means it can be used negatively or positively, depending on the perspective of the user. Discrimination and/or discernment is the Key here.

Thoth- 9 of cups-happiness

The 9 of Cups-Happiness is a card of sensuality and pleasure, more mystical than convention allows, and less stable than the 10, but is now flowing and reaching towards the mystical states of ecstasy. Here, sensual pleasure, may be felt as a religious experience as the influence of Jupiter is strong in the passive, receptive and somewhat psychic character of Pisces. Jupiter in Pisces also indicates pleasant travel by water and brings good fortune through occupations governed by Neptune. The personality inclination here is a tendency for kindness, quiet and unassuming, with an unambitious approach to life. If the planet is well dignified, there may be a more ambitious approach to occupation.

The Square arrangement of the Cups, on the 9 of Cups, overflowing into one another, suggests Chesed-Jupiter and the perfection of Water force, a dreamy current of Consciousness which is also reinforced by Yesod-9, being the numbered sphere of the Moon. Pisces brings out the most Placid form of Water (emotions), so this card is a Happiness well-spring that floods into our normal state of self-consciousness.

The recipient of this Happiness, really doesn't ponder a reason to be happy, for their own consciousness has not reasoned it out as a logical way to be. for they "just are" and they feel "good all over. As you are this far into the blogs you know by now that Yesod, the 9th Sephirothic vessel, is the Foundation of all manifested forms and forces on Malkuth-the physical plane, even the illusionary world of lunacy. The 9's, generally show very great fundamental force because they rest on the Foundational Base of Yesod. Because this is pure emotional power, it means that this power can be used negatively or positively, depending on the perspective of the user. Discernment is the Key here.

THE 9 OF CUPS-Lord of Material Happiness, is Jupiter in Pisces. The Angels of the Decan are Saliah and Asriel.

The 9 of Cups is Yesod in Briah, influencing the Material World. Here, the benevolence of Jupiter, effects happiness and satisfaction in the Earth plane (Malkuth), by functioning through the Water of Pisces.

So when the 9 of Cups-Happiness, is thrown during a reading, it implies:

  • Contentment and Satisfaction.
  • Everything looks and feels "rosy".
  • The querent, is enjoying self-esteem and inner joy; flowing feelings of inspiration and joy.
  • The dull thunk in this chiming joy, is that this is temporary, as Change is the stability of the Universe;  However, this is a "the cat is away, so the mice can play", kind of moment that happens before reason takes over, and finds the logical points of survival thinking that mess up "unmitigated joy".
  • The love that opens up everything.
  • Optimism and trust in the future.
  • The search for fulfillment in the higher purpose of life.

If ill dignified by the surrounding cards:

  • Vanity.
  • Arrogance.
  • Self complacency.
