Santa Muerte- 2 of Cups

The 4 Twos and the 2nd Sephiroth Chokmah.

The Upper or Supernal Triangle can be compared to the Garden of Eden and in this comparison the male and female polarities of energy balance against each other evolving into increasing density as they develop towards the lowest Sephiroth, Malkuth, on the Tree of Life.

In Qabalistic Gematria (numerology), the number 2 symbolizes the union and balance of opposites that underlies all material existence. Because this equilibrium of opposites begins in Chokmah, it is called the Sephiroth of ”Perfect Harmony”, while Kether, the 1st Sephiroth, is that which the “Root” of impetus is: Chokmah-The Will to Force, is the impetus for all manifestation. The Harmonic Union of opposites; with the 3rd Sephiroth-Binah-Will to Form- supplies that action, until it eventually becomes in-form-action. Binah is also considered to be Saturn and/or Mother Time and Chokmah is the sphere of the Zodiac.

Ultimately Kether is asexual, Chokmah is the idea of Maleness (Electric/will to force) and Binah is the idea of Femaleness (Magnetic/will to form), and the mating of the 2 " sends information into the Electromagnetic Spectrum thereby transforming energy into living in- form -action.

I have often explained Chokmah, the 2nd Sephiroth called Wisdom, and by now one should understand that Chokmah is a state of Pure Maleness or rather the beginning of the idea of maleness, and that Binah is that of Pure Femaleness, or the beginning of the idea of Femaleness. Another way to say this is the concept of Will to Force is becoming electric, while the concept of Will to Form is becoming magnetic; However, both are from 0 that is the Fool, that is primarily before polarity became 2 (0=2). Therefore, sexuality as we personalize it, is not vast enough of an idea to encompass even a minor understanding of the Supernal Triangle. To help with the confusion, Pure Male is Electric Force and Pure Female is Magnetic Force. But again, understanding of these 2 Forces is not complete.

The Thoth - 2 of Cups is also called the Lord of Love and this is easily seen as it represents Venus is in the 7th house of Cancer*. The angels of the Decan are: Ayoel and Chabooyah.

*Venus in 7th house is indication of a good married life for Cancer ascendant people. There would be a strong relationship and happiness with wife. As Venus becomes the 4th and 11th lord, its Placement in 7th house is also a good placement for Money, financial gain and profit through Social Networks or female friends.

The 2 of Cups is the influence of Chokmah in the Mental world of Briah .

Cups represent the Alchemical Element Water, which is the emotional consciousness, and Cancer is a watery sign that is the House of the Moon, so the matchup is obviously an emotional event. Jupiter is also exalted in Cancer thus implying benevolence in this most sensitive of signs.

This is a card of feeling and romance and the illusions thereof, so misspent energy-in-motion may apply.

In mythology, fish are a the usual symbol of the Goddess Venus but the dolphins intertwined on the Thoth card, relate more generally to Neptune or the Sun god Apollo.

On the 2 of cups, we can see (by careful scrutiny as the colors are somewhat faded) a Silvery sheen on the Golden  Dolphins, The Silver represents the Moon (under the silvery moon), Female and the Golden color represents The Sun, male/Apollo. Here the union of both is loving, romantic, as they work together to bring light into our world. The harmony of male and female which is also the nature of the Water Sign Cancer.

The Water of Emotion, or self- consciousness, springs up from the Central Lotus, flowing down into the overflowing cups to ultimately reach the Earth. This imagery implies that only through the Will to Force supplied by Chokmah-Fire (sunlight), can water flow. E-motion, is energy in motion, and the "motion within the movement" is Chokmah's domain.

As explained in the book 777, by Aleister Crowley, the number 2 refers also to Will. So the 2 of Cups can also imply Love under will or Willful Love. The 2 of Cups radiates a perfect placid harmony, amid joyous ecstasy...often called the "adorable fire".

The symbols on this card may be subtle, but they represent both the male and female forces that once joined as a loving couple ; the masculine of the Sun above and the Water below are symbolically male- fire, female-water as a lake and fertile earth all covered in exuberant vegetation, produce all things from the vital flow of Love.

There may be a tendency to think of this card as one would the Major Arcana Card of the Lovers. But that is not rarely so, as the 2 of Cups is about Love being physical, between two human partners, whereas, the Lovers Card-key 6- refers to the inner Hermetic Marriage of the love between the Yin Yang, and/or Anima and Animus, balanced in harmonious union as the inner Self/Soul of an individual.

Therefore, ATU/ Key 6 rather than the 2 of Cups, would be the Loving union of Binah and Chokmah; of Wisdom and Understanding. However, the surrounding cards will show if this is the Hermetic Marriage of the Goddess and God within or of 2 "Soul mates" in the human world. Here is where the intuition of the Reader is most helpful as well. For Love is such a powerful emotion that it can overcome all limits of restriction and burn away in pure "adorable fire" (Dr.Paul Foster Case), any reasoning.

Those faithful readers who have been following my blog know by now that Binah is "Will to Form", is the underlying force that makes imagination a womb. She is the Will of the Womb to become all forms, not the Womb itself for that is reserved to the Action of Chesed the Sphere of Mercy, and the architect of creation (sets measurement). Hence, the sexingof these forces is limiting and short on insight but necessary in discerning certain aspects of each. Chesed may be Masculine in its expression of form, and yet it is feminine as it receives the Will of Binah. Chokmah maybe the “pure masculine force”, yet Chokmah was the Hebrew word for the Greek Goddess of Wisdom, Sophia. to make this simple, the interplay of masculine and feminine qualities constitutes all Sephiroth as shown in the spherical Chinese idiom, the yin yang symbol.

What may surprise you, is that none of us are the sex of our bodies. We are Androgynous, in that we are both receptive (female) and expressive (male); both magnetic (female) and electric (male). Being Electromagnetic entity, we are both sides of the same coin. Thus we have great Divine power, "to be or not to be" male or female or even both! To begin an never ending argument, one could say that all of us are bisexual.

The body is a tool, powered by the Electromagnetic Entity that you are....as a power tool the human body is excelled, but as its operator, you are beyond the reason of bodies and their sex. You are obviously a "Will to be" which is very much a "Will to Force" (emotion) and a “Will to Form” (in-form-action) so here is a kicker, YOU ARE THE IMAGINATION (i-magi-nation) ...you don't have it. All the images you see are “Self-Images”!

Remember, before Latin became the official language of the Patriarchy (law) and/or military industrial empire made human common as "man". Hu is both a Tibetan and Mandarin word for God and Man is from the Hindu word for mind---Manas, therefore, before Rome, human once meant  a God Mind! That is the "Son of God", Horus, Adam and Eve Khadmon and/or Apollo, depending on your philosophy. Therefore, the body is not described in the "old word" human which was used to describe those who inherited the mind of the gods who came to earth and "married the women of men". So you are a Hu-Man, a Creative Mind (imagination), who owns a genetically modified body; modified to link it to the microwaves of the Universal Collective Unconscious; of the Divine Creative.

Image-maker, is what the Imagination means, and that dear soul is the Creator- Power. So get off of your suffering and "dumbed down butt" and stand up and Yell-----I AM ME! And get on with you, and imagine your divinity, for impeccable self-awareness is what you came to do! Remember, what we command by declaration in this Universe produces our own image. Therefore, take charge of yourself and stop blaming environment, or person or thing; sure they may influence, but they only have the emotional power you give them. What you are is up to your Passionate use of Imagination and don't accept man-made definitions that only stimulate your imagination to enslavement of your image to another, person, place or thing. You are Imagination; the I-Magi-Nation and therefore, free to own your own identity! When imagination and love flow as one perspective----------You Are Divine in manifestation flowing in luxurious sensation that is known as the "adorable fire" which is the dance of the anima and animus within, creating a harmony that resounds in your body as a deep inner pleasure.

santa muerte tarot-2 of cups

The advice of the dead: Gain wellbeing and happiness when you have rightly accumulated it but also when you have received and prepared for the next steps to take.

-From the Santa Muerte Book of the Dead by Fabio Listrani

The Santa Muerte - 2 of Cups-Love, depicts the loving skeleton's whose heads are loving cups, that flow together in emotion. Hence, despite the imagery of death, love is this card's imperative. In the background, thorns are blooming as the fertility of love makes them fecund. Red hearts throb, showing passion, and a strong reciprocal exchange along with attraction, and affection. There is also gestation after an accumulation which can be ill defined as jealousy, frustration, betrayal, and a resulting separation.

When the 2 of Cups- Love, is thrown during a reading:

  • Ideas generated between two partners in cooperation and harmony.
  • The merging of Lover and beloved.
