Thoth- 10 of wands-oppression

In the Thoth Tarot the 10 of Wands is called Lord of Oppression, and is Saturn in Sagittarius. The Angels attributed to the Decan are Reyayel and Avamel.

The Whole of us (the invisible 99.6% and the Visible.4%) is called the "Divine Child" and/or Son (Sun) of God. The Angels are servants to the Laws of their structure; their motion has been decided for them, while we can break or change the laws of self-identity. We are endowed with freedom of choice or as quantum physicist state, by observation we change what is observed. We are Divinity by inheritance, but not necessarily by action. Often we are our own worst oppressors. This is because to create the Mind must emote energy. This emoted energy is commonly called emotions and it sets the motion of one's life.

Since in terms of Divinity, the Law is Love, love is the foundation of creation. Yet we can "fall" out of love by our choices to create unloving acts/self-images. Hence, angels are ruled by the Divine Creative, mankind is ruled by his/her own freedom to choose their own identity, which is a very painful burden to those who don't rule or "Above all things”, know themselves.

The ancient Greeks called us Daemons, (God Men- the Children of Angel and human mating). Daemonic, because by our own perspectives and observation, we can change reality. In fact, the word Human is made of 2 root words: Hu-which is Mandarin for god and Man- is from the Hindu Manas, meaning mind. Hence, we are the "god-mind" people. So, when the Hierophant says to you,"If you wish to speak to me, you must stand", he is not just stating "tough love", it is also a statement of equality for we are made of all the mental, emotional, and spiritual power that ever was or will be-now! Each of us creates in the name of the Divine Creative, the I AM. Hence, our Psyche is the god-mind/ the image-maker and our self-image, both mentally and emotionally, begins by I AM...

The 10 OF WANDS-Oppression; is the 10th Sephiroth- Malkuth in Aziluth and is the influence of Malkuth in the world of Pure Spirit-Fire. Where upon the destructive powers of Saturn (Geburah-Severity) are amplified by the swiftness of Sagittarius, leading to selfishly applied material force, and often cruelly. On the Thoth 10 of Wands, the suggestion of the crude club like wands, and the Dorjes (Tibetan spear- like symbols of Thunderbolts) suggests, cruelty, malice, overbearing force and energy that can be injustice, including the injustice and cruelty of indoctrinated thoughts of inferiority.

However, one must understand that a certain amount of energy must be oppressed at all times, as a reserve for future creativity. Energy must be contained in a "thought form" in the inner world, before it can become manifest in the outer world. Then again, too much oppression of energy-in-motion (emotion) leads to disaster. Like electricity, Water or Fire, energy resists this oppression, and will "slip its bonds" at any sign of weakening. Sometimes destructively so.

Often the oppression of our own ability to act, is because of our own self-perspective, most of us tend to be crueler to ourselves than to others, because we often fear ourselves being rejected more than others. We can escape this cycle of destruction if we understand that the oppression we feel, is often a programed one installed by the "pleasure/pain" training of indoctrination. To change inner perspectives of self will release oneself to move forward into a more productive and satisfying life. Sometime we feel oppression so we can identify the oppressive thought and act to free ourselves from its invisible cage. The longer the oppression, the greater the emotional release. So let's remember that it's better to pop a balloon, than an over pressurized air tank and stop oppressing our emotional energy with images of inferiority. For the day will come, when we no longer can contain the suppressed energy within and explode in a wrath which is way out of proportion and/or triggered by a seemingly innocent event.

Often, by taking things too seriously, we fail to use the power of mirth that cracks the veneer of perspective, so that we can see beyond our self-made prison of "I can't" and/or "am unable". Truth being, "I can’t", usually means "I am afraid to" and/or "I don't want to”; However, when repeated often enough,"I Can't" becomes a statement of low self-value and believed to be true. So just say," I don't want to" and get on with your motion.

For as we all know, with passionate focus, we can accomplish anything. That's the beautiful side of "freedom of choice". So remember this, we use "thought" to oppress energy into form, for creation's sake----including our own, but eventually, because change is the only constant in this energy Universe, that oppression will end whether voluntarily or by emotional-explosion. I Am... is the declaration of existence and what we think I AM, forms as self in the eternal now.

I Am Power, I Am worthy, I Am wealth, I Am health, I AM love... I Am the will. I Am the way. I Am the wealth. I Am the Day! All are declarations of a "god-mind" in its proper function.

Since Energy resists oppression, it will freeitself, and move. Those who are freely changing their perspectives, will find that the once feared end we call death, is merely a movement towards another perspective and will experience what the Tibetan Tantrics call "reincarnation", which is simply expanding and liberating one's personality by change of perspective where the personality enters their True Identity/ Soul, and is refreshed and sent back to do the Psyche's work. However, by fearing an end, you have one; by not fearing an end, you consciously experience transformation and remember past moments of self in the new now and become the archetypal persona of your Soul. Now some "new agers" call this as being an "old soul", which is inaccurate for Souls are infinite and therefore, without measure and therefore not old or new. It is the Personality that is old, as it is made by the Soul, as its in-form-action (information) on Malkuth. If the personality "ain't broke" the Soul doesn't waste energy by fixing what doesn't need it and therefore, keeps incarnating the functioning persona as its "I AM Me" in the realm of matter.

the tarot of the spirit-ten of fire-the cage

The Tarot of The Spirit- Ten of Fire-The Cage, is comparable to the Thoth 10 of Wands-Oppression, for in both one's heart/ Inner-Soul, feels tapped. Here, one has a peak experience, but is having difficulty applying it to daily life. The key to this is to let go of extraneous attachments; free one's self from unnecessary encumbrances. Above all things, know thyself, means to tune into your emotional self and release all that is unnecessary in your expression of self/ life by changing your attitude and/or perspectives.

Now all this sounds easy; However, the material world is of "measurement" and the internal world of Mind is free of measure. Trying to take what is not yet measured in ones expression of Living Self and add measure, requires one to go on a voyage of introspection, and to peel away all the imagined limits of self. This requires us to accept our self-divinity, and not try to measure self by using the inaccurate measurements of indoctrination. In other words, to be a Soul controlled self -definition rather than that of "those who control definition", which is any outside authority you accept as "more powerful" than you. Knowing that I Am is all the power that ever was, and ever will be and that Self is all you will ever know, frees you from fear of outside judgment. For there is only One Self/Energy and it can neither be created nor destroyed, only transformed and "knows" itself by its images made manifest. Data/thought must become information/in-form-action, for it to become a truth. That is why the Western Hermetic Qabalah's axiom of "Above all things, know thyself", frees us from the bonds of worded definition, which is nothing but ruler-controlled definitions and/or propaganda. Each of us is given the freedom to rule oneself in the kingdom of Malkuth by the I AM of the Divine Creative. Therefore, our inner-self, Heart, is our true author/authority. I Am love...not its seeker.

In the illustration of the Tarot of The Spirit card, the wands/tubes of the Nine of Fire, now become the bars that lock the caged heart. This is the oppression of cultural identity and/physicality. The physical is oppressed by its very fear of dying/rejection. This is where the Soul's understanding comes into play, for it is the Immortal Self, and knows "dying" to be transforming and that a personality is transformable. The knowledge here, is that all things measured must have a beginning and end. The only way to keep Self -knowledge infinite, is to continually transform it by new measure. Hence, by combining the past, with the new experiences of Self-awareness, can one continue as Self; every new addition of understanding produces a new future.

The upper cube on this card is like a television screen full of dark and light fiery will. The image is full of monsters and horses. The horses are rearing and ready to go. The choice is yours. The upper triangle is the Supernal Triangle of Kether, Chokman, and Binah. The lower triangle represents the Astral triangle of Netzach, Hod and Yesod. These are the elements of the Tree of Life, interacting and birthing new forms (in-form-action) on the material plane.
