The Babylonian Tarot- 8 of Wands-Swift Action, depicts the god-Usmu, who is also the Sumerian god-Isimud and is comparable to the Roman god Janus. Usmu, was a messenger for the god of wisdom, Ea, and therefore, also functioned as the Roman god Mercury. Usmu, means "two faces",. Hence he is shown with two faces looking in opposite directions. One face towards his lord, Ea and the other face towards the recipient of the message. Hence, Usmu was a swift messenger and the positioning of the 8 wands is meant to convey swiftness. Above Usmu, is the cuneiform letters for the numeral 8. The meanings of the divination for the Babylonian 8 of Wands, is the same as the Thoth 8 of Wands.
The 8th Sephiroth, Hod, is called Splendor and all language relates to Hod. All 8's are attributed to Hod that as the messenger Mercury/Hermes who is the patron of Names and vesicles.
8 of Wands, Swiftness, is often called, The Lord of Swiftness and is Mercury in Sagittarius. The Angels of the Decan are Nithahiah and Haayah. The 8 of Wands, is Hod in Aziluth, the influence of Splendor in the World of Pure Spirit.
The placement of Mercury in Sagittarius, mitigates and diffuses into a rapid expansion the energy of Mercury. Thus, the energy of Mercury in the Sign of the Archer, is shown as electric arrows, going in multiple directions, both above and below. This illustration expounds on the meaning of swiftness and rapidity. A lot of energy, going nowhere and everywhere all at once. Implying that the recipient of the message must be open to receive swift communication from the Soul.
The fiery colors invoke the concept of Fire as the element of this card, and we know that fire is the Vital Life Force, Spirit and/or Sex energy. Sex energy is the Swift electric energy that is used to create and achieve imaginings, goals or living beings. This masculine electric energy is shown in the Thoth Deck 8 of Wands, Swiftness, as electric arrows. However, these electric arrows of energy sustain and constitute the Material World representing the subtle energy of the Fiery Father, bringing down from Chokmah (wisdom), the message of the Original Will, which is Eheieh-"I Will Be"!
The Thoth 8 of Wands and the Babylonian Tarot 8 of Wands both illustrate the geometrical pattern of the restored Universe (constantly restored by this Electric Fire). The rainbow above the double pyramid of the Thoth 8 of Wands, depicts the division of pure light into seven color rays of the light spectrum that exhibit interplay and correlation of the electromagnetic spectrum. The Double Pyramid, and/or Diamond shape of golden light on the Babylonian Card, is also the symbol of the "As Above so Below" of the restored Universe. Here, electric energy, because of the principles of Hod, (making concrete that which is subjective), has created intelligible geometrical form. Now there is a measurement of information. This allows our consciousness to translate the codes of geometric images, that are the language of the Soul. Often called the "light language". Our brain is not the thinker, it is the translation device that is supposed to be the messenger of the Soul. Intuition is the "knowing", and is not thought of by the brain. Instead it is received by the open brain that is not all clogged up with "associations" of cultural indoctrinations.
