The Thoth 4 of Wands represents-Completion of the Original Will of the 2 that is transmitted through the 3 and has become built up into a system of order, law and government.
For those who aren't familiar with spirit, who is the Energy and Will of the the Sexual Self, the Divine Creative is Sex. O=2. Spirit is the fiery creative energy of Sex, passion, ardor, assertiveness, vigor etc. It is the "I Will Be" of Energy. Therefore all creation comes from a sexual act of the Will to Force and The Will to Form (Male and Female). The union of atoms comes from force and form getting together as Electric male energy and Magnetic female energy. Also the wholeness, health and wealth of being comes from the union of male and female, Force and Form.
To separate spirit from sexuality is pure ignorance based on fear producing divisionism and falsehoods that create dysfunction that greatly serves the "divide and conquer" paradigm of the Patriarchy.
On the Qabalistic Tree of Life, the 4th Serphiroth- Chesed is named Mercy, and is known in Qabalah as the Demiurge or "Lesser Creator" who gives rise to "form and light" as measurement. Here, knowledge becomes information. When receiving Chessed is Feminine, when expressing Chessed is Masculine ,as Light is the expression of masculine (ejaculation) and form is the receptivity of the Feminine (Magnetic vessel or Womb). Thus, Chesed and Geburah are really "two sides to one coin". So here we compare Chesed -Mercy and Geburah-Severity or Strength, to the two arms of a human, as one gives and one takes away and/or receives.
THE TAROT FOURS:
The Four 4's all bring perfection, realization, completion, and making a matter settled and fixed.
The 4 of Wands and 4 of Batons are no exception, for here is the Lord of Perfected Work. Attributed to the 4 of Wands-Completion, is the planet Venus in the sign of Aries. The angels of the Decan are Nanael and Nithal
The 4 of Wands is Chesed influencing the realm of Atziluth; the Realm of Pure Spirit.
The swift active force of Aries- Mars, is activating the Love and Luxury of Venus. This placement in an astrological reading would be implying a warm, brief romance, or warm fleeting feelings. But in Tarot, we must be aware of the Placement on the Tree of Life. There is a combination of the zodiacal and the Sephirotic meanings to consider.
First and foremost one is to realize that the zodiac is the mundane or root Chakra of Chokma, as it appears in the lowest of Four Worlds; Assiah-the active world. Thus, the 4's represent the Totality of that which the planetary signs refer and in Tarot the reference is the Union of Severity and Mercy.
Venus in Aries, being the outer attribute of the card while the inner attribute is Chesed forces, the pure four (Fire, Air, Water, Earth), in the world of Yod-Fire. So what we have in the Four of Wands is Completion of the process initiated by the Upper Trinity, or Supernal Triangle. Here, the manifestation promised by "Will to Form" (Binah) has taken place in Jupiter-Chesed; The Father Creative who resides below the Abyss. Therefore, this is a dominating influence on all the following cards, as it is the highest idea that can be understood intellectually of the element it represents.
Since Chesed is the Demiurge, who is the 1st Sephiroth below the Abyss, making him the Lord of all Manifested Active Power (In-Form-Action). The original will of Chokmah- Wisdom and Binah-Understanding is now manifest in the Serphiroth Chesed- Mercy and the combination of Wisdom and Understanding, is now a solid system such as ; Order, Law and Government and/or measurement.
Venus in Aries, also removes some of the volcanism of Aries-Mars, and indicates that one can't establish one's work without tact and gentleness.
When examining The 4 of Wands-Completion, we see the wands headed by Rams, both signs of Chesed (Father-God Amoun-Ra) and Aries, ending in the Dove of Venus. The completed and limitation of the original work is shown by the yellow rimmed circle. To show balance, the 4 flames are doubled, suggesting the feminine and masculine balance of the 4's. Also being 4, there is no attempt to expand, the original will is complete, and so entropy will soon begin. From order to disorder, is the flow of energy in this universe. Hence, when completed, there is a form of stasis that slowly degrades into entropy/chaos, a process that is commonly known as "aging". The Earth is a Native American Medicine Wheel of 4 Elements, 4 directions, and is therefore, a closed system (10th Sephiroth) that slowly degrades/ages.
The Tarot of The Ages- Four of Batons, implies that one has reached perfection as an tribal warrior. Here the swift cheetah may resist one's attack, but the warrior will prevail and be sitting comfortably on its cured hide. The Four Batons have become a completed scaffold, a closed system to elevate one above the scorching ground and security against attack as the predators abound. Here, the fruits of one's labor are enjoyed. Therefore, just as the 4 of Wands Completion card, the union of wisdom and understanding have become a solid form of information/in-form-action.
When the 4 of Wands or 4 of Batons is thrown during a reading:
- It is the key to spiritual and holistic completion.
- It suggests that the querent is experiencing the completion of something and experiencing the desire to begin something new.
- The 4's of Tarot also implies that ideas are firmly established and proved by their flourishing and it is time to move forward.

- Here we see celebration and reward after laborious completion of an enterprise.
- Newly acquired prosperity.
- Peace and tranquility, after strife.
If ill defined by surrounding cards:
- Unfulfilled romance.
- Loss of tranquility.
