The 3 of Cups, signifies the influence of Binah in Briah, the mental World.

Cancer is an astrological water sign, and is therefore, under the command of the Moon. Thus we have Cardinal Water, i.e. emotions. Thus, The 3 of Cups is perfect affinity with Binah, who is "Will to Form" and the Trinity Goddess of Maid, Mother and Crone.

The rushing water, swift and extravagant as it overflows the Pomegranate cups, represents the gifts of Mercury. The Water arises from a single cup which denotes the "dark calm Sea of Binah" a characteristic of the Unconscious from which all consciousness springs. She is also seen as Persephone (spring), to whom the Pomegranate is sacred. With the Plenty of Persephone as spring, this card represents plenty, hospitality, and abundance.

Binah, the 3rd Sephiroth called "Understanding" is also the "Will to Form", an underlying force that makes imagination a womb. She is the Will of the Womb of all forms, not the Womb itself for that is reserved to the Action of Chesed the Sphere of Mercy. Again the sexing of this forces is limiting and short on insight. Chesed may be Masculine in its expression of form, and yet it is feminine as it receives the Will of Binah.

What may surprise you, is that none of us are the sex of our bodies. We are Androgynous, in that we are both receptive (female) and expressive (male); both magnetic (female) and electric (male). Being Electromagnetic entity, we have great power, "to be or not to be". The body is a tool, powered by the Electromagnetic Entity/Light Entity that you are (Soul). For as a power tool the human body is unexcelled, but as its operator, you are beyond the reason of bodies as you are its "Holy Guardian Angle". You are obviously a "Will to be", an I AM which is very much a combination of “Will to Force” and "Will to Form", so here is a kicker, YOU ARE THE IMAGINATION and the Imagined. Remember, Hu is Mandarin/Tibetan for God and Man is from the Hindu word for mind-Mannas---long before Latin has been used by the Patriarchy as its propaganda of choice. Therefore, you were once called a God Mind! The body is not described in the world human, rather it is a higher mind . So you are a Hu-Man, who owns a animal body. Now the soul, Your Original Identity, is a Daemon/ or Daimon/Holy Guardian Angel to your body.

The Divine Mind is the Image-maker, which is what the word Imagination means, and that dear soul, is a Creator's Power. Time to "above all things, know thyself"-----I AM Me is a multidimensional collective of "selves"! Therefore, forget your man-made identities and get on with you, for self- impeccability is what you came to do! Remember, what we command in this Universe is our own image and life. Take charge of yourself and stop blaming environment, or person or thing. Sure they may influence, but they only have the power you give them. What you are is up to your Passionate use of Imagination/ of I Am!

In mythology and philosophy

Carnelian gem imprint representing Socrates, Rome, first century BC – first century AD.

Homer's use of the words theoí (θεοί "gods") and daímones (δαίμονες) suggests that, while distinct, they are similar in kind.[10] Later writers developed the distinction between the two.[11] Plato in Cratylus[12] speculates that the word daimōn (δαίμων "deity") is synonymous to daēmōn (δαήμων "knowing or wise"),[13] however, it is more probably daiō (δαίω "to divide, to distribute destinies, to allot").[14]

Socrates[edit]

In Plato's Symposium, the priestess Diotima teaches Socrates that love is not a deity, but rather a "great daemon" (202d). She goes on to explain that "everything daemonic is between divine and mortal" (202d–e), and she describes daemons as "interpreting and transporting human things to the gods and divine things to men; entreaties and sacrifices from below, and ordinances and requitals from above..." (202e). In Plato's Apology of Socrates, Socrates claimed to have a daimonion (literally, a "divine something")[15] that frequently warned him—in the form of a "voice"—against mistakes but never told him what to do.[16] The Platonic Socrates, however, never refers to the daimonion as a daimōn; it was always referred to as an impersonal "something" or "sign".[17] By this term he seems to indicate the true nature of the human soul, his newfound self-consciousness.[18] Paul Shorey sees the daimonion not as an inspiration but as "a kind of spiritual tact checking Socrates from any act opposed to his true moral and intellectual interests."[19]

Regarding the charge brought against Socrates in 399, Plato surmised "Socrates does wrong because he does not believe in the gods in whom the city believes, but introduces other daemonic beings…" Burkert notes that "a special being watches over each individual, a daimon who has obtained the person at his birth by lot, is an idea which we find in Plato, undoubtedly from earlier tradition. The famous, paradoxical saying of Heraclitus is already directed against such a view: 'character is for man his daimon'".[6]

Plato and Proclus[edit]

In the ancient Greek religion, daimon designates not a specific class of divine beings, but a peculiar mode of activity: it is an occult power that drives humans forward or acts against them.[citation needed] Since daimon is the veiled countenance of divine activity, every deity can act as daimon.

A special knowledge of daimones is claimed by Pythagoreans, whereas for Plato, daimon is a spiritual being who watches over each individual, and is tantamount to a higher self, or an angel. While Plato is called ‘divine’ by Neoplatonists, Aristotle is regarded as daimonios, meaning ‘an intermediary to deities' – therefore Aristotle stands to Plato as an angel to a deity.

For Proclus, daimones are the intermediary beings located between the celestial objects and the terrestrial inhabitants.[citation needed]

On the Thoth 3 of Cups, are 3 pomegranate cups, overflowing with "love". Here are 3 states of Love illustrated, as Eros (love of flesh), Philo (Brotherly love/love of family) and Agapé (Spiritual love). Here is illustrated a great scene of abounding joy and love: However, there is a caveat produced by the pomegranate image. Eros is also Maid, Philo, is also Mother, and Agapé For it is from the pomegranate, that Persephone ate and by swallowing a few seeds, she was obligate to spend part of every year in the Dark Underworld with her husband Hades/Pluto. The caveat being enjoy the good things in life, but don't trust them to last, as some sacrifice will be made.
