rider-waite-smith-queen of swords

The Rider-Waite-Smith, Queen of Swords, is not disclosing any of her secret actions of the Qabalistic Philosophy. This is because, Waite, was a sworn member of the English lodge of the Golden Dawn. All members swore to not reveal the "secret initiations" that Crowley exposed on his cards.

Hence, the Rider-Waite-Smith Queen of Swords depicts a Great Queen, bigger than life, who holds up a sword in defense and yet, offers a hand in peace; implying a peace won by severity. The only indication of the Divine Child is in the stone head motif of a cherub on her Throne. She is surrounded in the Air above, complete with flying bird, to imply the element of Air/Mind, as does the cloud cloak that she wears. She is depicted here as a very timid Kali-Ma. Again it helps to understand that Waite was sworn to secrecy in the Occult lodge of the Golden Dawn, so he displays only the mundane meaning in his cards.

The Qabalistic Mother of Consciousness, Binah, the 3rd Sephiroth called UNDERSTANDING, is also often called the Sanctifying Intelligence and known as the Parent of Faith. What is often not realized is that She is also Chronos/Saturn, who was/is considered a male aspect of the Collective Mind, who is the oldest of ancient gods. We may know him as "Father Time" but the highly restrictive nature of time, birth, aging and death are the ultimate result of the gift of Life bestowed by the female aspect of the Divine Creative- Binah. So once again the sexing of the Sephira proves to be insubstantial for complete understanding. It helps to remember that each Sephiroth has a expressive-male-state and a receptive-female-state of consciousness and that the Divine Creative is a combination of Kether, Chokmah and Binah, inseparable and infinitely inexplicable. So we can also call her "Mother Time-Space".

Thoth-Queen of swords

The Thoth Queen of Swords is Water of Air, which is also called Specific Water in the Realm of Primal Air. Water is the element attributed to consciousness and air is the element attributed to mind. Thus She is as Crowley stated in the Book of Thoth, "...clear, conscious perception of Idea, the Liberator of Mind".

The Thoth Queen of Swords is the Queen of the Thrones of Air. Queen of Sylphs and Sylpides, attributed to the last Decan of Virgo and the first two Decans of Libra. The Thoth card depicts Her with

a severed head in her left hand, reminiscent of Kali Ma, the Hindu Goddess of Life and Death. Here the Queen of swords has the severed head of The Patriarch or the mask of rule and slavery. The Sword of Geburah (an extension of Binah's authority over form) in her right hand, pointing downward toward earth; indicating that she removes the masks of deceit and definition supplied by cultural thoughts as defined by Rulers and enforcers of definition. You were created because you are known and judge by The Divine Creative, you didn't come to be judged. Therefore, you are good enough for Creation, you are good enough for all.

Yetzirah,(The world of Air) is the world of wispy deception and only keen perception, and observation are the Sword that slices away all fantasy, delusion illusion and unreality.

The Queen of Swords also has upon her crowned head, a child's head viewing upward, implying that only the innocent child is unfettered by sterile concepts and useless ideas, for they haven't been programed to believe in the Ruler's definition.

In the beginning we are the Child of the Divine Creative and are called Daath-Knowledge. That identity is rarely shown on the Tree of Life, nestled as it is between Chokmah and Binah on the middle pillar (above the head of the Adam Khadmond illustration). This invisibility is because this Child of Wisdom and Understanding, is all potential, allowing us to supply our own definitions of Self. Once the Prodigal Child, who has walk down the Tree of Life to Earth, has consciously returned to the Parents (Supernal Triangle) and claims their inheritance, Daath becomes visible again. There is also a lesson to remember here: to accept any definition of yourself as less than the Child of the Divine Creative, is to become invisible to your Creator! It is necessary to understand that you are not a question in the Divine's mind. Questions cannot be made manifest, for they are a naught; an emptiness. You are made manifest, with the Divine Creative's mind (imagination) and the animal mind. You bridge the gap between creation and the Divine Creative. You are Knowledge and not a question. You are an answer that must above all things know thyself. Being you the best way you can imagine, is your purpose!

The severed head depicted on the Thoth card, indicates that The Queen of Swords is the Sanctifying Intelligence that removes the "head of man-made man" bring us into the Understanding of the ways in which each of us are deceived by thoughts while also teaching us to transcend them. Thoughts are the Trickster, the "devil inside", that fools us into believing survival thinking as our primary consciousness, when all in all, love is the consciousness foundation of the Sanctifying Intelligence that has given our immortal Spirit Form. Immortals don't worry about survival as they have no measurement; no beginning and end. Pure Mind loves and create ideas into mortal being for the purpose of measurement; Self-awareness requires measurement. Since thoughts are just definitions of dreams, they are subject to misdirection! Therefore,"tough love", a corrective, can be the Sword in Her hand which is the domain of Geburah called, Severity. Another aspect of the Great Female Divine Creative Womb-Binah, is the act of correction.

Hence, the Queen of Swords personality, is known to be one who accepts only truth, and scorns illusion. She is independent, and desires freedom and is self-determined. She may have an abundance of ideas, but she is not confused as she has a quick perceptive intelligence.
