Thoth- queen of swords

The Queens are aspects of Mother Binah, the 3rd Sephiroth, who is often called the Sanctifying Intelligence (Dr. Paul Foster Case) and known as the Parent of Faith. The Qabalistic Word- Binah- means Understanding. What is often not realized is that she is also Chronos who is the oldest of ancient gods. We may know Her/Him as "Father Time" but the highly restrictive nature of time, birth, aging and death are the ultimate result of the gift of Life bestowed by Binah. So once again the sexing of the Sephira proves to be insubstantial for complete understanding. It helps to remember that each Sephiroth has an expressive-male-state and a receptive-female-state of consciousness. In a more scientific bent, she is magnetism and he is electricity.

The Queen of Swords represents Water of Air, which is also called Specific Water in the Realm of Primal Air (Yetzirah). Water is the element attributed to consciousness and air is the element attributed to mind. Therefore, she is as Crowley stated in the Book of Thoth, "clear, conscious perception of Idea, the Liberator of Mind".

The Queen of Swords in Western Magic/Metaphysics is the Queen of the Thrones of Air. Queen of Sylphs and Sylpides, attributed to the last Decan of Virgo and the first two Decans of Libra.

The severed head in her left hand reminds me of Kali Ma, the Hindu Goddess of Life and Death. Here the Queen of swords has the severed head of The Patriarch and the Sword of Geburah (who is an extension of Binah) in her right, pointing downward toward earth; indicating that she removes the masks of deceit and definition supplied by cultural thoughts or as defined by Rulers. Your true identity became from her information, not that of any man, woman or child. Those who control definition on earth, teacher's, media, lawyers, politicians and theologians, control only words, and words are not your definition. You are of the Golden Psyche called Tiphareth and/or the "Sun/Son of Goddess". You are the Self-Aware I AM, the Divine Creative in intimate self-awareness. Remember, Chokmah is considered to be "father god" and is called Will to Force, a Force attributed to Wisdom. Binah is "mother god" and is known as Will to Form which is attributed to Understanding. When the ideas of Chomah/Fiery Self, are Understood by the Binah/Watery Self, they become information. In Malkuth, information, becomes in-form-action. Hence, you. Often we are all known as the "Golden Children" for we come as Horus into the worlds of Isis and Osiris. Therefore, the Queen of Swords also has upon her solar-crowned head, a golden child's head viewing upward, implying that only the innocent child is unfettered by sterile concepts and useless ideas, for they haven't been programed to believe in a Ruler's definition of themselves.

Yetzirah, (The world of Air) is the world of deception and only keen perception, and only discerning observation is the Sword that slices away all fantasy, delusion, illusion and unreality. For in the Pure Intellect, any thought will do, for thinking is its only action. To become the "me" of I Am, is to become in- form- action. The way to "realize" self as the many senses of "I" look to give measurement to infinite space. I is Idea, Am is Understanding and Me is the information produced. Hence, the sensual I AM Me, is a fulfillment of the Divine Creative's will to be (Eheieh-Kether-"I Will Be").

The severed head, also implies that The Queen of Swords is the Sanctifying Intelligence; one that removes the "head of man" bring us into the Understanding of the ways in which each of us are deceived by thoughts while also teaching us to transcend them. For in the beginning, before our identity was profaned by the Patriarchy, we were "Sacred". The Queen of Swords returns us to our Sacred Inheritance as her "golden children" and/or the Buddha/Christ intelligence of Tiphareth.

Thoughts that begin by words are the Trickster, the "devil inside", that fools us into believing survival thinking of a slave is true-consciousness; when all in all, Love is the consciousness of the Sanctifying Intelligence that has given our immortal Spirit Form. Immortals don't worry about survival. They love and created mortal being in order to Understand themselves. Thus, “tough love”, can be the Sword in Her hand, which is the domain of Geburah that is called Severity. Another aspect of the Great Mother Binah and her corrective abilities.

The Queens, along with all court cards of Tarot, are also considered archetype personalities; "the core" from which our Soul established Persona /Personalities. The Word "Persona", is Greek and means, "mask". The Soul then "self-reflects" as it now can examine the Infinite Self as "selves". Hence, the Queen of Swords is seen removing the mask of the patriarch. Freeing our soul from the profane identities indoctrinated into us. The phantoms and demons of shame, embarrassment, inferiority, and worship, are to be exorcised by Kali Ma/Binah Ma. We are the "living" identity of the I AM, and owe no one or no-thing servitude. Our identity, serves the One's wish to be. I AM Me, is willed being. Therefore, if a person has been born between September 12 to October 12, their significator persona, is represented as the Queen of Swords, and have the power of clear perception. Crowley stated that the Queen of Swords also represented the "elasticity of that element (air), and its power of transmission".

In tarot, the Queens are a symbol of the mature, very expressive woman in life or the "inner woman" of the man. However, the Queen of Swords is not a direct expression of the mother image. Instead she tends to be seen through the eyes (I's) of man as an aspect of the masculine- and less feminine-experience of the eternal feminine. She is the Divine Feminine that is found in the Greek Goddess image of Hera, guardian of order (like Cronos) , the sister/wife of Zeus and the ancient goddess of Argos. Hence, she represents critical reason, clarity of mind, while being emotionally ambivalent.

the tarot of the spirit-mother wind

The Tarot of The Spirit-Mother of Wind, as is the Thoth Queen, is also about the completed intellectual process of Understanding. Here is shown Wind Mother as one who wears transcendent wings; wings of transformation. She is represented in this Card as the Guardian of the Eastern Threshold, which is considered to be the threshold of transcendence. She is shown transcending the division between darkness and light. Her yoke (reigns) are twisted into the figure eight, representing the 0=2 and/or infinite transition. Together, the anima (Spirit) and animus (Soul) are yoked together as the inner (Unconscious) and outer (self-conscious) minds. The swirling, twisting tail of her yoke goes down into the portal of transcendence. The feather at her yoke's end, representing the Maat persona, is the feather of transformation. Your details are known to her, who has your sacred name.

When the Queen of Swords or The Mother of Wind, is thrown during a reading:

  • The querent desires to discard, pretense, masks, roles or defenses that hide their true self.
  • Wishes to develop or is developing intellectual thinking.
  • Is undergoing a sense of resolution and commitment.
  • Is experiencing intellectual maturity and is experiencing well-tuned mental facilities. Sharp of wit.
  • Experiencing the Wisdom generated by sorrow. Finding Wisdom through the acceptance of Pain with courage, and honesty.
  • Strong willed and determined this woman will can bear whatever life presents her with.
  • Deep comprehension of frightening truths, Able to think the unthinkable and giving expression to the unspeakable.
  •  Seductive and provocative.
  • The professional, who can handle situations capably, quickly and efficiently.

If surrounded by negative cards, the Queen can be ill defined:

  • Calculating coolness.
  • Insuperable distance.
  • Phony.
  • The Ice Cold Woman.
