Thoth Tarot- 9 of Cups-Happiness
Lord of Material Happiness.
The 9's all refer to Yesod, the 9th Sephiroth that is the Foundation of all manifested forms and forces on Malkuth-the physical and material plane. The Planet assigned to Yesod is the Moon (the Moon is a planet in Astrology). The 9s, generally show very great fundamental force because they rest on the Firm Foundational Base of Yesod.
Now this is pure-conscious- emotional power, so that means it can be used negatively or positively, depending on the perspective of the user. Discernment is the Key here.
The 9 of Cups Tarot Card is also called the -Lord of Material Happiness, and is assigned Jupiter in Pisces. The Angels of the Decan are Saliah and Asriel.
The 9 of Cups is also Yesod in Briah, influencing the Material World. Here, the benevolence of Jupiter, effects happiness and satisfaction in the Earth plane (Malkuth), by functioning through the Water of Pisces.
Therefore, the 9 of Cups-Happiness is a card of sensuality and pleasure, more mystical than convention allows, and less stable than the 10, but is now flowing and reaching towards the mystical states of ecstasy. Here, sensual pleasure, may be felt as a religious experience as the influence of Jupiter is strong in the passive, receptive and somewhat psychic character of Pisces. Jupiter in Pisces also indicates pleasant travel by water and brings good fortune through occupations governed by Neptune. The personality inclination here is a tendency for kindness, quiet and unassuming, with an unambitious approach to life. If the planet Jupiter is well dignified, there may be a more ambitious approach to occupation.
The Square arrangement of the Cups, on the 9 of Cups, overflowing into one another, suggests Chesed-Jupiter and the perfection of Water force, a dreamy current of Consciousness which is also reinforced by Yesod-9, being the number of the Moon. Pisces brings out the most Placid form of Water (consciousness), so this card is a Happiness well-spring that floods into our normal state of consciousness. With all aspects of Consciousness, subconscious, Unconscious, waking consciousness, Universal Collective Unconscious (Carl Jung)and/or The Electromagnetic Field Consciousness , we all are totally connected to 10 ^3 ( each Sephiroth has its own tree of life) Aspects of Self along the mycelium of the Paths on the Tree of Life. The 2 dimensional tree is drawn because we see in a linear manner: However, each Sephiroth has its own Tree of Life, and there are many more paths along the interconnecting *Collective of the Electromagnetic Field Consciousness, than can be felt by the body.
*The field theories of consciousness discussed in this article are theories of the nature of consciousness, in which consciousness is conceived as being identical with a field in the general sense in which the term ‘field’ is used in physics. This means that in these theories, consciousness is seen as having not only duration, but also extension in space. In most of the theories discussed, consciousness is proposed to be identical with some aspect of a physical field i.e. a field in which the property that exists at each point in a particular region of the spacetime continuum is objectively measurable. However, in at least one of the theories, consciousness is proposed to be identical with a hypothetical non-physical field, which nevertheless still has extension in space. This article does not discuss the variety of sociological theories of consciousness stemming from the work of Kurt Lewin, in which the word ‘field’ is taken to mean an abstract entity that includes not only each individual’s conscious thoughts, emotions and desires, but also the various external and internal forces acting upon these.
The field theories of consciousness that are discussed in this article can be further subdivided into two varieties, depending on the meaning of the word ‘consciousness’. For most of human history, the word ‘consciousness’ was generally taken to indicate not the sort of individual awareness to which the word now refers, but rather a universal entity variously named Atman, Brahman, Allah, Jehovah, God, the Unmoved Mover (Aristotle), Absolute Spirit (Hegel), or any number of other names according to who was writing about it. However, during the late 19th century and all of the 20th century, Charles Darwin’s mechanistic explanation of how the biota of the world came to have their present form largely supplanted theistic creation stories, to the extent that by the early 21st century any discussion of a hypothetical global consciousness has become more or less taboo in academic circles. Hence a brief history of philosophical treatments of global consciousness and some recent attempts at experimental investigation of the matter are relegated to a sub-article called Field theories of global consciousness.
The remainder of the present article deals exclusively with scientific field theories concerning the everyday conscious experiences of individuals, including the basic sensations sometimes known as qualia (colors, sounds, smells, tastes, various kinds of touch or somatosensation). Three such theories are described and discussed, in chronological order (for more info click on link below).
The recipient of this collective Happiness, really doesn't ponder a reason to be happy, for their own waking consciousness has not reasoned it out as a logical way to be.....they "just are" and they feel "good all over. Everybody is Happy, here as Pisces being a mutable sign of water, brings stability to the water element. Pisces is also most welcome in Yesod, the Sphere of the watery Moon. Since, Yesod is also the Foundation Sephira, it stabilizes the entire Tree of Life as the "foundation of the Middle Pillar".
To sum this card up: The Square arrangement of the Cups, overflowing into one another, suggests Chesed-Jupiter and the perfection of Water force, a dreamy current of Consciousness which is also reinforced by Yesod-9, being the number of the Moon. Pisces brings out the most Placid form of Water (consciousness), so this card is a Happiness well-spring that floods into our normal state of consciousness. The recipient of this Happiness, really doesn't ponder a reason to be happy, for their own consciousness has not reasoned it out as a logical way to be.....they "just are" and they feel "good all over".
Tarot Illuminati- 9 of Cups
The blessings of Satisfaction.
The Tarot Illuminati-9 of Cups, sticks with the Traditional Tarot illustration. However, this dashing fellow, looks like the "cat that just swallowed the canary". One can say that this is loveable Jupiter himself most fortunate, is enjoying the cozy and satisfying environment of the Watery- Yesod-foundation. Lined up along the top of the Card, are 9 golden chalices/cups, displayed as if trophies. Sure, there is always more trophies being offered in our material world of commercialism, but the trick here is to not have what you want, but to want what you have. Time to celebrate being you, for you have inherited the Universe.
So when the 9 of Cups-Happiness, is thrown during a reading, it implies:
- Contentment and Satisfaction.
- Everything looks and feels "rosy".
- The querent, is enjoying self-esteem and inner joy; flowing feelings of inspiration and joy.
- The dull thunk in this chiming joy, is that this is a temporary jubilation, as Change is the stability of the Universe.
- Before reason takes over, and finds the logical points of survival thinking that messes up "unmitigated joy'.
- Having all the best that life can offer.
- Emotional satiety.
- Wishes fulfilled.
