Guedeh is Brigitte's husband and she rules along with him the grounds of a cemetery. Since she is renown as a lawyer and judge, she is one of the highest powers that a Voodooist can plead their case. It is said that in her life and death embrace and rock gently back and forth to the measured beat of the court drum.

Being that she is closely associated with Kali-Ma, the Hindu Goddess, she is change and becomes fearsome only if change is resisted. As it seems to be with most of the Voodoo pantheon, it is the love and devotion of Manman Brigette's servitors that give her the ability to walk in the world of the living.

Depicted on the 3 of Congo card, is a corpse like woman sitting on a pile of stones. Such piles are often erected as altars to Manman Brigette in cemetaries. Behind her is an Elm tree, and candles before her, that are placed by her servitors. As if she is positioned in meditation as if she was one of those adepts that comprise the *City of Pyramids.

The City of the Pyramids is the mystical home to those adepts that have crossed the great Abyss (see the Tree of Life), having spilled all their blood in the Graal of Babalon. They have destroyed their earthly ego-identities, becoming nothing more than piles of dust (i.e. the remaining aspects of their True Selves without the self-sense of "I"), and become impregnated as a Babe within Babalon. Within, they take on the name or title of Saint or Nemo (Latin for No-Man). In the system of A.'.A.'. they are called Masters of the Temple. It is a step along the path of spiritual purification, and a resting place for those who have successfully shed their attachments to the mundane world.

Of these adepts, it is written in The Vision and the Voice (Aethyr 14):

These adepts seem like Pyramids—their hoods and robes are like Pyramids.
And the Angel sayeth: Verily is the Pyramid a Temple of Initiation. Verily also is it a tomb [fn. It is also a phallus, which dies itself to communicate life to others]. Thinkest thou that there is life within the Masters of the Temple, that sit hooded, encamped upon the Sea? Verily, there is no life in them.
Their sandals were the pure light, and they have taken them from their feet and cast them down through the abyss, for this Aethyr is holy ground.
Herein no forms appear, and the vision of God face to face, that is transmuted in the Athanor called dissolution, or hammered into one forge of meditation, is in this place but a blasphemy and a mockery.
And the Beatific Vision is no more, and the glory of the Most High is no more. There is no more knowledge. There is no more bliss. There is no more power. There is no more beauty. For this is the Palace of Understanding: for thou art one with the Primeval things.

The City exists under the Night of Pan (or N.O.X.) within the sephiroth of Binah on the Tree of Life.

In Confessions (p. 620-621), Aleister Crowley describes his vision of entering the City of the Pyramids:

I was instantly blotted in blackness. Mine Angel whispered the secret words whereby one partakes of the Mysteries of the Masters of the Temple. Presently my eyes beheld (what first seemed shapes of rocks) the Masters, veiled in motionless majesty, shrouded in silence. Each one was exactly like the other. Then the Angel bade me understand whereto my aspiration led: all powers, all ecstasies, ended in this—I understood. He then told me that now my name was Nemo, seated among the other silent shapes in the City of the Pyramids under the Night of Pan; those other parts of me that I had left for ever below the Abyss must serve as a vehicle for the energies which had been created by my act. My mind and body, deprived of the ego which they had hitherto obeyed, were now free to manifest according to their nature in the world, to devote themselves to aid mankind in its evolution. In my case I was to be cast out into the Sphere of Jupiter. My mortal part was to help humanity by Jupiterian work, such a governing, teaching, creating, exhorting men to aspire to become nobler, holier, worthier, kinglier, kindlier and more generous.

The next phase of initiation—in A.'.A.'. the grade of Magus—is to have the Great Fire burn the dust of their bodies into a white Ash.

Manman Brigette's primary attribute is wise judgment. In her solemn quiet depths, no lie can exist. If life and death are equalized in knowledge and understanding, in the voodooist, then pleasure and prosperity will inevitably be found.

When this card is thrown in divination, it implies:

  • Correct judgment.
  • Full measure of all good things upon proper understanding of the situation at hand.
  • A verdict of law that offers benefit.
  • Pleasure and prosperity.
  • The understanding of death gives one pleasure in life.

The Thoth 3 of Cups, signifies the influence of Binah in Briah, The Western Qabalistic World of Water.

Cancer is a water sign (bottom of card), and is under the command of the Moon. Thus we have Cardinal Water, i.e. Consciousness. Therefore, The 3 of Cups is perfect affinity with Binah, who is "Will to Form".

The rushing water, swift and extravagant as it overflows the Pomegranate cups, represents the silvery and flowing gifts of Mercury. The Water arises from a single cup which denotes the "dark calm Sea of Binah" a characteristic of the Unconscious from which all consciousness springs. She is also seen as Persephone (spring), to whom the Pomegranate is sacred. With the Plenty of Persephone as spring, this card represents plenty, hospitality, and abundance.

Those who have been following this blog know by now that Binah is "will to form", and is a Trinity Goddess of Maid, Mother and Crone. The underlying force that makes imagination a womb is "Understanding"- a place where no illusion can exist. She is the Will of the Womb of all forms, not the Womb itself for that is reserved to the Action of Chesed the Sphere of Mercy. Again the sexing of this forces is limiting and short on insight. Chesed may be Masculine in its expression of form, and yet it is feminine as it receives the Will of Binah.

What may surprise you, is that none of us are the sex of our bodies. We are Androgynous Photon Energy that operates the body in the name of "I AM". Androgynous in that we are both receptive (female) and expressive (male); both magnetic (female) and electric (male). Being Electromagnetic entity, we have great power, "to be or not to be". The body is a tool, powered by the Electromagnetic Entity that you are:A Soul. As a power tool the homo sapiens sapiens body is unexcelled, but as its operator, you are beyond the reason and illusion of bodies. You are obviously a "Will to be" which is very much a combination of “Will to Force” and "Will to Form", so here is a kicker, YOU ARE THE IMAGINATION and the Imagined. Remember, Hu is Mandarin for God and Man is from the Hindu word for mind-Mannas; Hence, you are called a God Mind! The body is not described in the word human. So you are a Hu-Man, who owns and operates a homo sapiens sapiens body.

Image-maker, is what the Imagination means, and that dear soul, is the Divine Creative's Power. So get off of your suffering butt and stand up and Yell-----I AM Me! And get on with you, for self- impeccability is what you came to do! Remember, what we command in this Universe is our own image. Take charge of yourself and stop blaming environment, or person or thing. Sure they may influence, but they only have the power you give them. What you are is up to your Passionate use of Imagination! The 3 of Cups also represents the 3 states of love, Eros (love of body), Philo (love of family-brotherly love) and Agapé (the love of Spirit). This then is the abundance of Whole Self.
