New Orleans Voodoo Tarot- 1-Ayida Wedo-(water)

The New Orleans Voodoo Tarot- Ayida Wedo, represents the element of Water, that is called Congo in Voodoo Tarot. Ayida Wedo, represents the rainbow and/or the Feathered Sky Serpent. Throughout ancient history, the rainbow was seen as a bridge between the heavens and the earth; a road the loa and ancestors may walk. Naturally, water is represented as the creative force. The Alchemical Element Water represents the Great Sea of the Universal Collective Unconscious and the resulting intuitive waves of "knowing" that it produces. Most just say it represents intuition., which according to Einstein, is the Mastermind, that the rational mind is subject to.

The New Orleans Voodoo Tarot-Ayida Wedo, depicts a snake dancer who through the activity of dance has joined with the serpent in such a deep manner that one blends into the other. Due to the ecstasy of dance, the dancer has formed an ecstatic union with the serpent. In Voodoo the Serpent represents "Wisdom", which is another way of seeing the waves of Intuition/Wisdom that pore down the Qabalistic Tree of Life, from Kether-Chokmah and Binah, i.e., the Supernal Triangle.

Besides representing wisdom, the ability of the serpent to exert pressure is another means of using constricting force as communication and/or contact. This ability allows for a profound physical, psychological, and spiritual joining. Although never around the neck, this pressure is a key to the use of snakes in certain Voodoo Trances.

Another manifestation of Water, is the Astral menstruum of "fluid light", and this fluid light, exerts pressure on the physical body. All around you are the many subtleties of Astral light, including the etheric body, whose grid like construction of enclosure around the body. Just like the grid of wires in the glass face of your MicroWave oven, the etheric grids keeps your microwaves (electrons, photons neurons etc) from exiting, as they "bounce" rapidly between the squares of the grid. This is very important, because negative electrons attract positive electrons, and any time your body gets near a atomic composition of more negative electrons, your body would lose the positive electrons in your atomic structure. The Etheric grid keeps this from happening, hence the pressure of the serpentine waves of astral light, also exert enough pressure to hold your form together; the physical form is also made of "crystalline light", another aspect of Astral pressure.

One can actually, becalm themselves by taking a few deep breaths, holding for a count of eight or ten, and exhaling easily, repeat. Then just begin feeling the slight pressures on the body, these are the warm hugs of your Soul, who is the composite of 7 Astral "Beings" (Immortal bodies of light) , as it holds your form in a loving embrace. Move inward from the most obvious to the most subtle, feelings of this warm hug of pressure, and feel the messages of love that these subtle pressures bring. You may even get outright intuitive messages, that should be listen to. In Voodoo and Qabalah, going inward is going upward, while focusing your attention outside, is going downward the Tree of Life.

When this card is thrown in divination, it implies:

  • Pleasure and happiness.
  • The influence of the Great Mother, who creates freely through the pressures of the Waters.

By now you may understand that the First Sephiroth on the Tree of Life, Kether, is the "Dark energy-Dark Matter" and/or The Great Dark Sea of Mother Binah, that really isn't understood by us. Kether, the Source of All, is not known to us objectively, but its presence is subjectively understood as a movement within all that moves.Again, the Aces are attributed to Kether and they represent the most pure forms of energy. Each is a specific type, and density of frequencies of the One Energy that Western Magic calls the Alchemical Elements.

Thoth-ace of cups

The Ace of Cups is Kether in Briah, depicting the influence of Kether on the Mental Level. The Ace of Cups is the Root Powers of Water, an element used to symbolize the Consciousness and emotions (in combination with Fire).

The Thoth Version of this Card shows the wave action characteristic of physical water implying the activity that encloses and directs pure intuitional consciousness. As the Universe of Energy is woven out of waves of consciousness, ideas, if you will, thus the Web in the background. The Thoth- Ace of Cups, shows us a magnificent Grail filling with "White energy", empowering the surroundings, with Spider Woman's Web emanating from it. For those of us who do not know the Myths of Spider Woman, she is a Native American description of the Great Mother Goddess who wove the fabric of the universe. Today we acknowledge time-space, as a woven grid of energy-----the similarity simply means that we have proven the Myth.

The Ace of Cups represents the secrets of Water in its original form as an universal element. The Wyrd (weaving) of Atoms into flowing waves/currents/frequencies of energy form. Water is the Feminine compliment (magnetic), the Moon- vaginal- womb to the masculine- electric- Sun-phallus.

As shown, upon the Dark Sea of Binah (or Goddess Mari if Gnostic Nazarene/Essene) are Lotuses, two in one, that fill the Grail-cup with Life Fluid, that is either represented as Water, Wine or Blood, according to the selected purpose of the symbolism. In such symbolism, the Lotus can be replaced by a Blood Red Rose, thus representing the Blood Red Sea of Binah from which all Life flows. The Blood Red Rose is the image for the "Rosy Cross" symbol.

Remembering that all Aces are the "seed" of a force, no matter how much imagery we use to describe "The Womb with a View" (I've called the Great Her this since I was very young), She is a Force that makes Form from "I Am" (ideas) by birthing "Me". To represent this amazing Force, in any form of metaphor is difficult at most, and a mystery in the least. It's like trying to identify the one who has left footprints in the snow, many weeks after they were made. You know someone has been there, but no conclusive clue on their identity. She is the Seed of all Life; of Energy as Form. She is the Magnetic Enclosure that exerts enough pressure on light, to form it into "Self Identity".

The Cup, is the Womb of Form, and emerges from the Lotus (Crown) implying the idea of Womb, the seed of the concept of conception and not a sex as of yet. Thus, the Ace of Wands is the idea of Phallus-ejaculation and the Ace of Cups is the Idea of Womb-reception.

The Ace of Cups is derived from-Yoni Moon, as the Ace of Wands is from Phallus- Sun. Thus we have the "Holy Grail", the Divine Creatrix; here the dark Sea of Binah supports the Two in One Lotuses that fill the cup with Life Fluid, be it symbolized, by water, wine or blood. Two in One, Force and Form, is the realization of the Womb and Phallus. What isn't well known anymore, is that the Original Grails on Earth, were Temples to the Goddess, all placed on cross roads of ley lines (flowing energy lines of earth, likened to arteries) and/or "Dragon veins", and run by a High Priestess and priestesses, whose practice of magic rites was to keep all Solstices on schedule to ensure good harvests through balancing of weather, so that no one ever went hungry in the World of the Matriarch. Hence, the image of the Holy Grail as a cornucopia, the ever fertile and fecund womb of the Goddess. The Christian Roman Catholic church, destroyed these women and their temples and built their cathedrals on their ruins and turned true prosperity into poverty by wealth as coin rather than food. Hence, we are now subject to the chaos of the Patriarch's rule.

According to Crowley, the White Light descending into the Ace of Cups is depiction of the Holy Ghost and/or Holy Spirit that enlivens all form, i.e. the male semen like flow of force. In Alchemical terms it is the impregnating "gluten".

The Holy Spirit represents the Moving- All of Spiral- Energy of the All. When we become the "messengers" of our whole spirit, Western Qabalists call this movement, Adam Khadmon, the "Supreme Person".
