The Witches Tarot-nine of cups

The Witches Tarot- Nine of Cups, displays a bounty of food and wine. The Nine Silver Cups are arranged in a crescent moon shape, implying the Goddess, as silver is her sacred metal and the Crescent is her sacred symbol. A well dressed and happy woman is pouring wine, as if implying an open invitation to come join in the bounty.

Water is the Universal Element of the Cup Cards. Hence, the blue table cloth with sea creatures illustrating it and the blue greens of the very hospitable woman. The woman also has a pale blue flower and mystical peacock feather in her hair. Around her neck is a necklace of 9 blue stones.

The arrangement of pineapples, pumpkin, grapes and apples not only looks to be a celebration or banquet, it has even a more mystical meaning.

  • The pineapple is a classic image of hospitality.
  • Pumpkin, is a classic image associated with the Moon and Water.
  • Apples, grapes, pineapple and pumpkin, altogether also represent the bounty of the harvest season.
  • The Cauldron, simmering in the back ground, is a classic goddess symbol.
Therefore, this is an obvious hospitality card. Expect that your social calendar shall fill up. You will be hosting a party for friends, neighbors and/or family members soon. You may even soon be hosting a sabat or esbat celebration for you coven.

Thoth-9 of Cups-happiness

In Qabalah the 9's all refer to Yesod, the 9th Sephiroth that is the Foundation of all manifested forms and forces on Malkuth-the physical and material plane.

The 9's, generally show very great fundamental force because they rest on the Firm Foundational Base of Yesod. (9th Sephiroth on the Tree of Life). Yesod's planet is the Moon.

Now this is pure-conscious- emotional power, so that means it can be used negatively or positively, depending on the perspective of the user. Discrimination is the Key here.

The Thoth 9 OF CUPS- is also known as the Lord of Material Happiness, and is the planet Jupiter in house of Pisces. The Angels of the Decan are Saliah and Asriel.

The 9 of Cups is Yesod in Briah, (see-The Four worlds) influencing the Material World. Here, the benevolence of Jupiter, effects happiness and satisfaction in the Earth plane (Malkuth), by functioning through the Water of Pisces.

The 9 of Cups-Happiness is a card of sensuality and pleasure, more mystical than convention allows, and less stable than the 10, but is now flowing and reaching towards the mystical states of ecstasy. Here, sensual pleasure, may be felt as a religious experience as the influence of Jupiter is strong in the passive, receptive and somewhat psychic character of Pisces. Jupiter in Pisces also indicates pleasant travel by water and brings good fortune through occupations governed by Neptune. The personality inclination here is a tendency for kindness, quiet and unassuming, with an unambitious approach to life. If the planet is well dignified, there may be a more ambitious approach to occupation.

The Square arrangement of the Cups, on the 9 of Cups, overflowing into one another, suggests the 4th Sephiroth-Chesed/Jupiter-Mercy and the perfection of Water force, a dreamy current of Consciousness which is also reinforced by Yesod-9, being the number of the Moon. Pisces brings out the most Placid form of Water ( self-consciousness), so this card is a Happiness well-spring that floods into our normal state of consciousness.

The recipient of this Happiness, really doesn't ponder a reason to be happy, for their own brain hasn't reasoned it out as a logical way to be.....they "just are" and they feel "good all over. As you are this far into the Qabalistic Tarot, you know by now that Yesod, the 9th Sephiroth, is the Foundation of all manifested forms and forces on Malkuth-the physical plane. The 9's, generally show very great fundamental force because they rest on the Firm Foundational Base of Yesod.

Now this is pure emotive-power, so that means it can be used negatively or positively, depending on the perspective of the user. Discrimination is the Key here.

When the 9/Nine of Cups is thrown in divination, it implies:

  • Contentment and Satisfaction.
  • Everything looks and feels "rosy".
  • The querent, is enjoying self-esteem and inner joy; flowing feelings of inspiration and joy.
  • Here is "the cat is away, so the mice can play", kind of moment; Before reason takes over, and finds the logical points of survival thinking that messes up "innocent joy".
  • In business, your presentation shall be  successful and celebrated.
  • In relationships: this is a happiness of sharing joy filled moments.

The negative of this card is:

  • The dull thunk in this chiming joy, is that this is temporary, as Change is the stability of the Universe. Saturation and therefore, boredom is around the corner.
  • Self-complacency.
  • Vanity.
  • Arrogance.
