The 8 of Swords-Interference, is in the 8th Sephira -Hod on the Qabalistic Tree of Life, which is called Splendor. Splendor signifies lack of persistence in intellectual and matters of contest. Splendor, is cosmetic and has little depth of character. However, ruling this astrological Decan, is Jupiter in Gemini, thus good fortune may have attended even weakened efforts. However, Gemini has its own contest, which is constantly interfering with the Will.

This constant distraction of the intellect is shown by the 6 Crossing Swords between 2 major Swords signifying; too many different thoughts to consider at the same moment.

The Thoth Deck 8 of Swords, is also in the Suit of Air, which blows wherever it may. All of this contradiction well displays the mental conflict that comes from splendorous displays of intellectual thought. In such a shallow display, the faux intellectual must constantly babble on with gaudy words and hollow concepts that have very little mental "nutrition". This is a common virus planted in the human brain that prods our personalities on with a shotgun blast of thoughts, scattering our intellectual strength so that our thought is too weak to go the distance. This dysfunction serves the “slave masters” indoctrination well.

Many of us are errantly taught, that to be ignorant or incorrect, is bad and the brain, who fears rejection, wishes to be good and well liked, so it does everything it can to impress other brains; hoping for a "pat on the back". This tends to "narrow and restrict" the mind, so that all we hear are the echoes of many thoughts rattling around in our tinny head making it hard to learn anything new. It is not that such a person is "closed minded" it's just that there is such a cacophony of rapid fire thoughts that the person's brain is closeted in mental noise. Such mental interference often assaults the individual's moments of mental repose; sleeping and meditation becomes a contest between will and brain making both sleep and meditation weak attempts.

This lack of focus, requires us to add correctional software to our brain's association programing; one such correctional software package, is the study of the Gnostic Qabalah where "above all things, know thyself" is the foundational focus of I AM. Rather than, "thyself is made by the acquiring of more pricey things" which only produces impoverished thoughts based on " I don't have so I must have” or that "I am not accepted if I don't have...." (In the study of Yoga, the Sanskrit word for this impoverished thinking is Neti-Neti, which means “not this-not that”.) The solution to mental fuzz, is focusing on one thing at a time and to stop seeking happiness as if the accumulation of things will cure this self-lack. To "seek" means you don't have it, therefore you are always saying "not this, not that". Knowing your value and letting go of seeking and begin receiving, may sound easy, but requires intense sensual intimacy with love of being the Trinity of Spirit, Mind, Body and being in love with what you are doing. The word Qabalah, means "receiving or to receive", for it is our inheritance of the "God Mind" (Human) that we must claim, by "Above all things, know thyself". To be the "Heavenly Human", and/or Adam Khadmon (Horus if using Egyptian Metaphysics). You are the Child of I AM, and all that is -is your inheritance. You are the I AM Me of Self. This would ruin the "rule" of the Patriarch, so you are told that you must "earn" a living. Thereby, forfeiting the Life that you already are! It is our thoughts of "low self value" that interfere with our true identity.

Now don't get me wrong, for you need money to barter with, for not all of us are farmers and we do need food. However, money needs you to be valuable and has nothing to do with how valuable you are. Value isn't money, or things, Value is identity and since you begin as I AM, you identity is that of the Divine Creative, whose intimate self, is you----which you call "me". We are the Intimate Hu Man (god-mind)! For we live as our own creation! I AM Me is a wide open, infinite possibility of "Being". You control your identity by in-form-action. Not by some outside authority.

Again, THE 8 OF SWORDS- Interference, is also called The Lord of Shortened Force. This card is attributed to Jupiter in Gemini, and Jupiter's natural expansiveness is in determent in Gemini, as the Duality of Gemini affects Jupiter's positive energy scattering half one way and half the other.

Because of Gemini's desire to go one way than the other, the shortened forces of Jupiter are scattered, erratic and unstable. This is indeed an interference when trying to focus one's consciousness on a goal. Yes, it can be an intense and positive beginning, but it soon loses momentum in misdirection.

Crowley illustrates this in his 8 of Swords, as 2 strong and long main swords, representing the conscious and unconscious, being crossed (as in Crossed-up) by 6 short swords of different designs, representing scattered thoughts. The shorter swords also imply, shortened force, narrowness and restriction. There is a definite lack of persistence in intellectual matters and of contest. Jupiter's natural good fortune still attends even the weakest of efforts, yet the will is constantly thwarted by accidental if not automatic interference. We all wear "filters" over our "i's". These filters scatter and/or "filter out" what we are trained "not to observe". Hence, individual observation is based on what we believe and/or are taught to believe. Words are these filters. I AM is not a word, it is existence and the identity of the "Divine Creative" and/or "no- thing". You are free to be whatever you declare yourself to be by first thinking/saying, I AM-----. I AM Me, is a very special trinity of Self, that has been completely interfered with by the filtering of identity called indoctrination and/or dogma. Remember, the word "Ruler", means those who control identity. Who controls your identity, the Soul (inner-self), or some outside authority? If your head is full of noise, then it is not "your head".

The Tarot of The Ages- Eight of Swords, depicts a blindfolded Norseman, running across a bridge made of swords; However, the blindfold interferes with his sight. Suddenly, his risk is real and the solid friendly path breaks into two. Here only his True Will can bring him beyond the abyss. That "True Will" is the Will of the Divine Creative. In Qabalah, the Will is Spirit and it begins creation with "I Will Be" which is Eheieh in Hebrew, and/or the sound of the exhalation of the first breath. When one clears all the mental clutter out of their brain, one can realize they are "Being". Therefore, the Will of the One I AM is fulfilled in and as you; For you are "I Am Being". Hence, the entire Tree of Life, supports the Will To Be and the Manifested information gathered by that I Am about itself. You are that Manifested Will to Be! The Homo Sapien Sapiens is only Hu Man, when you- the Psyche of Spirit, inhabit and own the brain. You are the lightning that sparks from neuron to neuron, making the brain "think". You are the evolution of Light, the Sun/Son of the Divine Creative, that has been going on for over 13.7 billion years and the body is of the evolution of matter that has been going on for about 4.6 billion years. Hence, never let the animal fears of survival, run your Spirit. To begin ownership of your own body, try repeating this many times during the day. I Am the Will, I Am the Way, I Am the Wealth and I own the Day! This helps reroute the lightning that you are and stops being interfered with by outside "authority"; for life starts inside and ends inside, not outside! Time to take the "blindfold" and/or "filters" off.

When the 8/Eight of Swords is thrown during a reading, the querent will or has, experienced:
