Thoth- 3 of wands-virtue

The 3rd Sephiroth- Binah, on the Qabalistic Tree of Life is the Ocean of the Universal Collective Unconscious and an aspect of your own Energetic Unconscious. The prefix Un tends to make one think of something "less than" consciousness, nothing can be farther from the Truth. Here Un just designates the Unseen, this does not mean less in anyway, any more than unseen bomb are less powerful than the one on your doorstep. Consciousness, itself, is a child of the Collective Unconscious of the Universe, and that Mother of consciousness, is Binah. In the Great Sea of Imagination, your image floats in the amniotic fluid of "will to form". Binah is the Great Will to Form that is the Sea of Unconscious.

The Texts of the Golden Dawn wrote about Binah:

“In Binah is a thick darkness which yet veileth the Divine Glory in which all colors are hidden, wherein mystery and depth and silence, and yet, it is the habitation of the Supernal Light. There the Supernal Triad complete. And the Sphere of its Operation is Shabbathi, or rest, and it giveth forms and similitudes unto chaotic matter and it ruleth the sphere of action of the planet Saturn. And Jehovah Elohim is the perfection of Creation and Life of the World to Come. And the Archangel is Tzaphqiel, the Prince of the Spiritual Strife against Evil and the name of the Angels is Arahim, the strong and mighty Ones who are also called the Order of Thrones."

"The order of Thrones" are represented as the 4 Queens of the 3rd Sephiroth and are united with the 4 Kings/ Companions of the 2nd Sephiroth.

Generally, the four 3's, represent the realization of the Action (conception) of the Prince having been conceived and who is symbolized as the central fiery figure on each wand card. Action is definitely launched for good or evil, depending on the actions of the individual.

Therefore in the Three of Wands the conception of the Prince of Wands, is seen as, central flames radiating outward from the Supernal Union of the Triad.

This is the conception of the fiery sexual self. It is pure vital force, neither is it male or female as of yet.

THE 3 OF WANDS-VIRTUE, is also called the Lord of Established Strength; well noted, as the Sun is in Aries here. There is great power where the Sun illuminates Aries, the Cardinal Sign of Fire often called Mars. In sexual expression it is “adorable violence" and/or the "adorable fire". Sexual fire/energy is the fertile force of fecundness in all things that multiply by union.

The 3 of Wands also represents Binah's influencing the World of Pure Spirit (Atziluth).

Here the 3 Crossed Wands indicate the balance of Chokmah, Binah and the birth of Tiphareth, the Sun (son), and/or The Prince. Growth begins and is shown on the card as the unfolding lotus blossoms opening to the Warm and Bright Energy of Aries. To an astrologer, the entry of the Sun into the sign of Aries, heralds spring and therefore, embodies the beginning of a new cycle of self-awareness. Hence, everything that merges form this inner harmony, flowers and thrives. Here, one is being true to their Inner-Self.

Therefore, the blazing colors of the Card show great strength for individual expression (central Wand). Here also is absolute power to burst out of the hard shells of fear. However, such power in a dark heart can corrupt absolutely, thus egocentricity, pride and conceit are lurking dangers. Yet we have Virtue here, the key to Spiritual/Sexual integrity and honesty.

In our personal relationships, this card signifies that a harmonious accord has come about between inner wishes and external experience.

On the professional level, it is now time to start with fresh ideas while the center/inner-self is purified of the dross of the past. There is now a harmony between the interior wanting, and the power of destiny, opening many doors that have been closed up until this moment.

the tarot of the spirit-three of fire-birth of light

The Tarot of The Spirit- 3 of Fire-Birth of Light, exemplifies the new miraculous birth of harmony. Here the Supernal Triangle is represented the 3 circled six pointed stars on the head of each of the 3 wands. The cooling blue-green Ocean of Binah, is shown on the left side and the hot burning fire of Chokmah is shown on the right. Kether, shown as the White Light is the Crown of this triangle/trinity of Supernal Mind. The Stem of the Wand of Kether, forms a path over the Abyss , which is a river between the upper Creative Force and lower aspects of reception and practicality, that we call "form". Hence, the twin pyramids as 6 pointed stars, representing the Qabalistic and Western Magic axiom of "As above, so Below".

The Central diamond represents this harmony of the triangular forces from above, with those below. On the 3 of Fire, the horizontal axis, is that which divides the above and below, while the vertical axis signifies the spiritual aspirations that connect the lower and higher planes of SELF. The white background represents the "skull of Kether" and/or the Primal idea that is Kether (I Will Be). The dark snakes radiating from the bottom, represent the dark subconscious from which creativity arises.

Both the Thoth and Tarot of The Spirit-cards illustrate in their own way, the same descriptions.

When the 3 of Wands--Virtue, or the 3 of Fire-Birth of Light- is thrown during a reading:

  • The querent is experiencing the conjoining of Body, Mind and Spirit.
  •  Putting thoughts into action.
  • Solidified power and strength.
  • Trust.
  • Vivacity.
  • Harmony between the Big 3: Spirit-Mind-Body.
  • Keeping on with present activities for they are conceived and will soon flourish into manifestation.
  • Clarity, where you are seeing yourself honestly.
  • Established strength in enterprises where collaboration will favor the querent.
  • Radiating intention, understanding the Will of Fire and increasing energy to birth ideas.
  • This is a very active card of powerful direction, so it requires us to understand that Virtue is not chastity, no nothing so obviously prejudicial, but rather "Always being True to Thine own self."
  • Here there is a warning not to compromise your inner fire- passion for others.
  • Be as spring and flower in your own inner fire! Clarify your identity and “Above all things, know thyself!"

If ill defined by surrounding cards in the divination:

  • Moodiness.
  • Attention  getting behavior.
  • Overestimation of one's ego.
