Triple Goddess Tarot- Queen of Swords
The Trinity Goddess of Qabalah is Binah, the 3rd Sephira, who is often called the Sanctifying Intelligence , by Paul Foster Case, the founder of BOTA, and he called her the Parent of Faith. The Qabalistic Word Binah itself means Understanding. What is often not realized is that she is also Chronos who is the oldest of ancient gods (it has been said the head she holds is the head of Chronos). We may know him as "Father Time" but the highly restrictive nature of time, birth, aging and death are the ultimate result of the gift of Life bestowed by Binah. So once again the Sexing of the individual Sephira proves to be insubstantial for complete understanding. It helps to remember that each Sephiroth has an expressive-male-state and a receptive-female-state of consciousness. This shows up on the Tarot birth wheel, where both Eleanor Roosevelt (October 11) and Stephen King (September 21) are both Queen of Thrones personalities. In Western Hermetic Magic, she is called, The Queen of The Thrones of Air; Queen of Sylphs and Sylphides.
The Queen of Swords is Water of Air, which is also called Specific Water in the Realm of Primal Air. Water is the element attributed to emotion, intuition, and consciousness. Air is the element attributed to mind and intellect. Thus she is as Crowley stated in the Book of Thoth, "clear, conscious perception of Idea, the Liberator of Mind". Water of Air are clouds (shown on card) that promise life giving rain, or torrential hurricanes. The Queen of Swords bears the zodiacal attributes of the last Decan of Virgo and the first two Decans of Libra.
The severed head in her left hand reminds me of Kali Ma, the Hindu Goddess of Life and Death. Here the Queen of swords has the severed head or Mask of The Patriarch (Kali has the head of a Male) and the Sword of Geburah (and extension of Binah) in her right, pointing downward toward earth; indicating that she removes the masks of deceit and definition supplied by cultural thoughts or as defined by Rulers. She cleaves the masks of lies, made of words, that hides our true identity of our Golden Child Soul (shown on top of her head). This child's head is viewing upward, implying that only the innocent child is unfettered by sterile concepts and useless ideas, for they haven't been programed to believe in a Ruler's definition of themselves. This Golden Child is the original soul identity that all of us have. The Triple Goddess Tarot-Queen of Swords also shows the removed mask laying on the floor of what appears to be a theater. with a red curtain embroidered with the golden Triple Goddess symbol. Her sword is held high as if at the apogee of a powerful cutting swing that removed the mask in one swipe. Both cards imply the removal of the "mask of words" that hides the true identity of you. You are not man-made words, you are a Creatrix created Soul whose is inheritor of All. The severed head, also implies that The Queen of Swords is the Sanctifying Intelligence; one that removes the "head of programed/indoctrinated man" bring us into the Understanding of the ways in which each of us are deceived by thoughts of tradition while also teaching us to transcend them.
Yetzirah, (The 3rd world of Air) is the world of deception and only keen perception, and observation are the Sword that slices away all fantasy, delusion illusion and unreality. Thoughts began by words are the Trickster, the "devil inside", that fools us into believing survival thinking ego is our true-consciousness, when all in all, words themselves are not truth and the body's ego is ruled by subconscious fears of the superstitious animal mind. Love is the consciousness foundation of the Sanctifying Intelligence that has given our immortal Spirit Form; Immortals don't worry about survival only mortal bodies do because they view death as an end, when the Spirit knows Life doesn't die, it just transforms. The Soul is love and created mortal being for the purpose of intimacy with Creation. Therefore, we see the “tough love” of Geburah (severity), and/or the Sword in Her hand, cleaving away the false identity that is ego so the True Self/Psyche that is Soul can do what it came to do. "Tough Love" is another aspect of the Great Binah and her corrective abilities.
The Words of Man, are false identities created by the "useless old men" who create a world to benefit themselves and/or the Patriarchy. Hence, they create nothing but indoctrinated and dogmatic concepts to control the subconscious mind. You may think your identity is a "word" or sentence made of them; However, no word ever created a child, nor can describe the Soul. To be created you already had to be Known to the Divine Creative as an image of Self. Your identity is already defined as the "Sun/Son of God" and/or Solar Soul in the 6th Sephiroth known as Tiphareth-Beauty, long before you took up an avatar on earth. Kali Ma/Queen of Swords cuts away all that is not the original Beauty that you are. One could say that a mask of words is removed by the Original Mind that calls you I AM and/or Self.
The influence of Virgo moving into Libra gives the Queen of Swords the practicality and grace of a great monarch. In the Book of Thoth, Page 161, Crowley explained that this native, "should be intensely perceptive, a keen observer, a subtle interpreter, an intense individualist, swift and accurate at recording ideas; in action, confident, in spirit, gracious and just. Her movements will be graceful, and her ability in dancing and balancing exceptional." Other well known Queen of Sword personalities are, Mahatma Gandhi, Eleanor Roosevelt, H.G. Wells and Stephen King.But don't let this identity fool you into thinking all is love and light. If ill dignified she is as dangerous and severe as she looks on the Thoth card.
